For engine drives, refer to Table 2. Electric motors, generators, engines, compressors and other machines fitted with sleeves or straight roller bearings usually require limited end float couplings. If in doubt, provide axial clearances and centering forces to the Factory for a recommendation. For balanced opposed design, refer to the Factory. If people are occasionally transported, refer to the Factory for the selection of the proper size coupling. For high peak load applications (such as Metal Rolling Mills) refer to the Factory.

Service Factors (S.F.) for engine drives are those required for applications where good flywheel regulation prevents torque fluctuations greater than ±20%. For drives where torque fluctuations are greater or where the operation is near a serious critical or torsional vibration, a TVA is necessary.
